International audienceIn Mumbai, the strong real estate pressure, in a context of privatization of the national market and decentralization, largely concerns the slums, whose perspectives of regularization/renewal induce a diverse range of actors, from real estate groups to slum dwellers, whether organized or not in associations, to engage multiple transactions around the valorization of urban land. These transactions can be seen as ways of mobilizing resources and specific strategies, which may result not only from speculative or political ambitions, but also from a rationale of survival.
