International audienceThis paper deals with the cleaning worker's practices of resistance against domination, exploiting data from participant observations. This activity is examined from two perspectives. Firstly, as an activity defined in a constant relation to defilement, which is regarded as an essential element of the organization of work. Secondly, the " dirty work ", as developed by Hughes, is a devalued activity which is then the object of strategies of delegation. We will consider how, when faced with domination mechanisms based on hierarchies of classes, but also of races and sexes, the workers do not fail to show their ability to resist.
