Composting techniques as a resource for the teaching of Environmental Sciences in the Elementary Education applied to the organic cultivation of peppers of the genus Capsicum

Diante dos desafios de sustentabilidade lançados nas últimas cinco décadas, entende-se que a educação ambiental deve ser uma matéria que desperte o interesse e permita às pessoas descobrirem o ato de cuidar do mundo, compreendendo o meio ambiente como um tema dinâmico presente na vida escolar. Partindo deste entendimento, o objetivo desta pesquisa foi verificar como a prática de compostagem com alunos do ciclo I do Ensino Fundamental, aplicada à agricultura, mais especificamente ao cultivo orgânico de pimentas Capsicum, pode ser utilizada como recurso didático no ensino de ciências ambientais, contribuindo como gerador de conhecimento e ferramenta para aprendizagem de caráter interdisciplinar. Além disso, este estudo apresenta o desenvolvimento de uma Sequência Didática focada no ensino de ciências ambientais. O experimento foi realizado na Escola Estadual Marilene Terezinha Longhim, em São Carlos - SP, com alunos do 5° ano do Ensino Fundamental. Como metodologia, foram realizadas atividades práticas e discussões pertinentes ao tema divididas em módulos, com o intuito de verificação da viabilidade do modelo de investigação e desenvolvimento da Sequência Didática. A avaliação foi por meio de questionário e produção de uma redação ao final. Dessa forma foi possível perceber o impacto das pesquisas com utilização de metodologias ativas no processo de criação das crianças; nas respostas às questões que foram realizadas no processo, na capacidade de solucionar os problemas que surgiram durante a produção e na capacidade de trabalhar em equipe e na evolução do conhecimento adquirido e se relacionando com outras disciplinas. Por fim, o presente trabalho alcançou seu objetivo final, pois, foi possível elaborar, analisar, avaliar e validar uma sequência didática através de técnicas de compostagem e sua utilização na horta escolar, no cultivo de pimentas do gênero Capsicum, identificando o conceito de resíduos, desperdício e reciclagem, desenvolvendo ações educativas de caráter interdisciplinar com o ensino de Ciências Ambientais no Ensino Fundamental I.In view of the sustainability challenges launched in the last five decades, it is understood that environmental education should be a subject that arouses interest and allows people to discover the act of taking care of the world, understanding the environment as a dynamic theme present in school life. Based on this understanding, the objective of this research was to verify how the practice of composting with students from Elementary School, applied to agriculture, more specifically to the organic cultivation of Capsicum peppers, can be used as a didactic resource in the teaching of environmental sciences, contributing as a generator of knowledge and a tool for interdisciplinary learning. In addition, this study presents the development of a Didactic Sequence focused on teaching environmental sciences. The experiment was carried out at the State School Marilene Terezinha Longhim, in São Carlos - SP, with students from the 5th year of elementary school. As a methodology, practical activities and discussions related to the topic were carried out, divided into modules, with the aim of verifying the viability of the Didactic Sequence research and development model. The evaluation was carried out through a questionnaire and the production of an essay at the end. In this way it was possible to perceive the impact of research using active methodologies in the process of raising children; in the answers to the questions that were asked in the process, in the ability to solve the problems that arose during the production and in the ability to work as a team and in the evolution of the knowledge acquired and relating to other disciplines. Finally, the present work reached its final objective, because it was possible to elaborate, analyze, evaluate and validate a didactic sequence through composting techniques and its use in the school garden, in the cultivation of Peppers of the genus Capsicum, identifying the concept of waste, waste and recycling, developing interdisciplinary educational actions with the teaching of Environmental Sciences in Elementary School
