The availability of space in the city is fixed and limited, thus it will naturally occur towards the outskirts of the city. The incidence of the physical appearance of the city towards the outside is reflected in the change in land functions. Similar symptoms occurred in Gentan Village and Makamhaji Village in Sukoharjo District. Changes in the physical appearance of the developing area with the function of settlements. Continuous development without control makes it difficult to predict future needs. Based on this, the authors are interested in conducting research with the aim of (1) analyzing changes in land use in the research area in 2010 - 2019 (2) analyzing the distribution patterns and growth rates of settlements in the study area in 2010 - 2019. The method used is an indirect survey with utilize satellite image data with overlay analysis techniques and analysis of closest neighbors. The results obtained from changes in land use in the study area, from 2010 to the end of 2019, were the highest in terms of changes to settlements. Overall, these changes cover an area of 10.46 Ha. The distribution of settlement growth in Gentan Village from 2010 to 2014 shows an even pattern and this pattern changes to random or random between 2014 and 2019. The pattern generated in Makamhaji Village in the same year span shows a random or random pattern and does not experience change in the next timeframe. In terms of the settlement growth rate, the highest occurred in 2010 to 2014. The growth rate in Gentan Village during that time was 2.06%, while in Makamhaji Village it was 1.052%. The high rate of settlement growth experienced a significant decline in 2014 to 2019, in Gentan Village it only increased by 0.46% or decreased by 1.6% and in Makamhaji Village, during the same period of time it only experienced an increase of 0.16% or experienced a decrease. by 0.886%
