This study aims to describe the types and factors that cause student errors in solving HOTS questions in the class XI class material at SMA Batik 2 Surakarta in solving HOTS questions in the sequence material based on Newman's theory analysis. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research. Data collection was carried out using written tests and interviews. The research subjects were students of class XI IPA 1 and XI IPA 2 with 6 students as the subject. The data analysis technique was done by reducing the data, presenting the data, and drawing conclusions. The validity of the data used technical triangulation by comparing the results of student work with the results of interviews that had been conducted. The results showed that ...
