International audienceThis study of the corpus of elite graves develops a twofold approach to two inter-related phenomena: ranking and hierarchies, and gender issues. A corpus of more than 700 graves, distributed over north-eastern France, southern Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Bohemia and dating from the Late Bronze Age to the middle of the Second Iron Age was analysed statistically. This demonstrated different dynamics in the patterns of ranking that emerged in different sectors of the north-Alpine complex. The regional specifics noted will be presented and examined in order to assess whether supraregional networks were in existence.
