This study proposes to identify, characterize and compare the recent changes in land using upon two urban wetlands: hortillonnages of Amiens (France) and chinampas of Xochimilco (Mexico). Established along the Middle Ages for agriculture, these areas were subjected to major changes in their functions and in their uses during the second half of the XXth century. Today, they are the support of numerous activities which are sometimes conflicting. However surrounded by fast growing town, they are subjected to urban pressure which can jeopardize space and environment.
