Research of the comparison yield and quality of winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) varieties

Research object: winter wheat species ‘Patras’, ‘Bonanza’, ‘Aspekt’, ‘Artist’, ‘Etana’, ‘Tobak’ crop. Research aim: to investigate the productivity and grain quality of the selected winter wheat varieties. Research objectives: to compare yields and different aspects of winter wheat grain quality (protein and wet gluten sedimentation values, starch content and falling number). In the course of the investigation, wheat yield and grain quality indicators (the content of protein and wet gluten sedimentation) were determined. The productivity (t ha-1 ) was calculated at 14% moisture content in an absolutely clean mass of grain. The research data was evaluated by the analysis of variance (ANOVA) and the software package SELEKCIJA (Tarakanovas, Raudonius, 2003). The soil of the experimental site consisted of medium heavy loam Endocalcari-Epihypogleyic Cambisol (sicco) (CMg-p-w-can). Research showed, that the average winter wheat yield was 11.3 t ha-1 . Winter wheat variety ‘Artist’ matured the highest yield which had a significant difference when comparing with other varieties. As such, winter wheat crop ‘Aspekt’ matured significantly lowest yield, while ‘Bonanza’ matured significant poorer yield of grains than the average.
