This is a comparative study which examines the linguistic explicitness occuring in the Lithuanian translations of the National Geographic English headlines. The analysed corpus encompasses the headlines from five popular science magazines in English and Lithuanian. 255 headlines are examined. The theoretical part of the research discusses the terms of explicitness and explicitation, as it is commonly assumed in the field of translatology, explicitness is a universal component which occurs in translation and interpretation as a necessary tool of language mediation.
