Perception and challenge of small business owners regarding outsourced accounting services

The micro and small companies contribute considerably to the generation of jobs and income in Brazil. However, surviving, growing and consolidating in this market is a challenge that becomes even greater with the distance between Accounting and small business owners who, in fact, should go together. Therefore, the present work aims to understand the perceptions and challenges of micro and small entrepreneurs regarding outsourced accounting services, making comparisons with the Organizational Life Cycle Theory, the internal controls used in the company and the decision-making processes managers and their accountant. In the research, classified as descriptive and qualitative, a questionnaire was used, sent electronically to business customers of an accounting company in Catalão/Goiás. The results found showed that, with most companies in the Growth stage of the organizational life cycle, despite businessmen use Accounting more frequently to serve the tax authorities and for tax planning, they recognize their importance in the management process and wish to approach these professionals when making decisions, however, the biggest challenge is to understand what they are accounting reports and their uses. Even with this difficulty, most of the entrepreneurs said they were satisfied with the accounting work provided to them. It is important that this relationship between the accountant and the entrepreneur gets closer and closer so that Accounting is seen not as an expense, but as an investment in the business.Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Graduação)As micro e pequenas empresas contribuem consideravelmente para a geração de empregos e renda no Brasil. Entretanto, sobreviver, crescer e se consolidar nesse mercado é um desafio que se torna maior com o distanciamento entre a Contabilidade e os pequenos empresários. Sendo assim, o presente trabalho tem por objetivo entender percepções e desafios de micro e pequenos empreendedores em relação à prestação de serviços contábeis terceirizados, com o intuito de relacionar tais percepções ao ciclo de vida organizacional (CVO), aos controles internos utilizados dentro da empresa e a tomada de decisões dos empresários. Na pesquisa, classificada como descritiva e qualitativa foi utilizado um questionário, o qual foi enviado de forma eletrônica a empresários que são clientes de uma empresa contábil de Catalão/GO. Os resultados encontrados mostraram que, com a maioria das empresas no estágio de Crescimento do ciclo de vida organizacional, apesar de os empresários utilizarem a Contabilidade com mais frequência para atender ao fisco e para planejamento tributário, há o reconhecimento da importância da Contabilidade no processo de gestão e desejam se aproximar desses profissionais na hora de tomar decisões. Porém, o maior desafio está em entender o que são os relatórios contábeis e sua utilidade. Mesmo com essa dificuldade, a maior parte dos empresários disseram estar satisfeitos com os trabalhos contábeis prestados a eles. É importante que essa relação entre o contador e o empresário fique cada vez mais próxima para que a Contabilidade seja vista não como uma despesa, mas como um investimento no negócio
