The aim of this work was to evaluate the replication overhead of relational databases, using two different transactional architectures in comparison. One architecture contains only one centralized database and the other contains two databases in strong mutual replication. This overhead assessment was based on the main Hardware metrics such as CPU utilization, RAM, Disk Input and Output, and Network traffic, in addition to the deployed RDBMS's own metrics which, considering two test scenarios, culminated in a better performance for the centralized database architecture.
