International audienceThe benefits of the Clean Development Mechanism for developing countries: a weak technology reception and a hazy contribution to sustainable development This paper provides a critical overview of the benefits expected from CDM projects in developing countries. The literature review shows that these benefits are weak: low technology reception and hazy contribution to sustainable development. This weak impact is explained by the fact that technology transfer for developing countries is not mandatory in the CDM framework. It is also explained by the lack of rigorous international standards for defining and assessing sustainable development that is expected from CDM projects in developing countries.
