Les enseignements d'une généalogie cornouaillaise: Dispersion familiale et mobilité individuelle en Bretagne (XIXe-XXe siècles)

International audienceFollowing the discovery concerning a whole Bas-Briton - both male and female - genealogy lineage, the goal of this article is to re-examine the history of the Briton migrations in the course of the nineteenth and the first part of the twentieth centuries. Contrary to a historiography most of the time focused on long distance migrations heading outside Brittany, the survey takes into account all the migrating movements by the members of a same family, inside as well as outside the region. The article analyses the scattering of that family, generation after generation, and underlines the ability to remain on the native land. Then, through a behavioural econometric analysis of the members of the fourth generation, it tries to bring out the social-demographic factors which had a major impact on the mobility of the people under study. Resorting to genealogy rather than to the census of the places where the migrants settled leads to draw again the migration map as well as to put into perspective its frequency, while taking into account the family migrating past - thanks to genealogy - leads to talk about the influence of family layouts in these very movements and, conversely, invites to underline the importance of the explanatory exogenous factors linked to the economic context between others.Suite à la découverte d'une généalogie bas-bretonne complète en ligne masculine et féminine, cet article se propose de réinterroger l'histoire des migrations bretonnes au cours du XIXe et de la première moitié du XXe siècle. À rebours d'une historiographie le plus souvent focalisée sur les migrations de longue distance et dirigées vers l'extérieur de la Bretagne, l'enquête prend ici en compte l'ensemble des mouvements réalisés par les membres d'une famille, aussi bien à l'intérieur qu'à l'extérieur de la région. L'article analyse la dispersion de cette famille, génération après génération, et souligne la capacité de rétention du territoire d'origine. Puis, à travers une analyse économétrique des comportements des membres de la quatrième génération, il tente de mettre en évidence les facteurs sociodémographiques qui ont eu l'impact le plus fort sur la mobilité des individus étudiés. Le recours à la généalogie, plutôt qu'au recensement des lieux d'arrivée des migrants, conduit à redessiner la carte des mouvements ainsi qu'à en relativiser la fréquence, tandis que la prise en compte, grâce à la généalogie, du passé migratoire familial conduit à discuter le poids des configurations familiales dans ces mêmes mouvements et, à l'inverse, invite à souligner l'importance de facteurs explicatifs exogènes, liés au contexte économique notamment
