International audienceAfter the suppression of the Archdiocese of Ohrid in 1767, the dioceses in the territory covered by this Church remained in the ecclesiastical orbit of the Patriarchate of Constantinople for 150 years (1767–1922). In 1920, the area became part of the United Serbian Patriarchate, but a large part of the faithful joined the «schismatic» Bulgarian Exarchate (at its creation in 1870, until 1912, and during the war years, 1915-1918 and then 1941-1944, when these dioceses were under Bulgarian spiritual control), but also the Churches of Greece and Albania.
