A quasi-experiment design with pretest-posttest control group model was conducted on 159 mothers (78 in the intervention group and 81 in the control group) of LBW infants treated in the perinatology ward of three hospitals in Central Jakarta. Provision of health education to mothers of LBW infants consisted of two counseling sessions on infant care and one-on-one visits provided by primary health centre nurses. Data were collected four times consecutively over 6 weeks - 3 days after discharge, and 2, 6, and 12 weeks after discharge from the hospital.
