Purpose of Project: In order to mitigate the adverse effects of excessive disruptions in workflow caused by a high volume of telephone calls, identifying the nature of these disruptions crucial. The focus of this project was to evaluate and identify the nature of the telephone calls being placed to Pediatric Rheumatology and Gastroenterology ambulatory care sites at a large medical site in New Jersey. The high volume of calls being handled at these sites are taking away from patient and provider time, causing delays in care, and can hinder safe, quality, and effective medical care.
