This article underscores the existence and especially the relevance of Hispanic authors who sided with conciliarist theories during the crisis that shook the Church in the Late Middle Ages. Despite their small number, these Hispanic conciliarist authors were exceedingly original and their doctrines were of exceptional interest in ecclesiological terms. This claim will be demonstrated through the Defensorium trium conclusionum, a work by Alfonso de Madrigal, known as el Tostado, in which he expounds his conciliarist thought.
