Hen's egg test on chorioallantoic membrane is an alternative method for toxicological and pharmacological tests. The introduction of this test supposes an experimental strategy for animal disuse, since Cuba requires compliance with international regulations on ethics and safety of laboratory animals in pharmacological and toxic studies through the principles of Replace, Reduce, Refine. The objective of this review work is to characterize the hen's egg test on chorioallantoic membrane, as well as to describe method and the advantages that assay provides as an alternative to use of experimental animals.
