Although recanalization via thrombolysis and/or thrombectomy has proven to be a beneficial treatment for ischemic stroke, their application are severely limited due to increased risk of symptomatic intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) as a result of ongoing blood brain barrier (BBB) damage.
