Abstention and opposition can be found in the speeches of both Jews ad Christians regarding a place considered indecent and even evil. Actually, they all used baths for hygienic or therapeutic purposes, once baths were not seen as sacred anymore. They were even taken over as a place of miracles, martyrdoms or religious assemblies.Le caractère païen des bains dans le monde gréco-romain a-t-il vraiment posé problème aux juifs ou aux chrétiens entre le IVe et le VIIe siècle, d’après ce qu’en disent les sources littéraires ?
