Another portrayal of the hero Sigurd, here holding the Ring of the Nibelungen which, according to some medieval sources, has become a symbol of power and decadence linked to Germanic heroic tales. In the Völsungar Saga , the story of the ring returns to the tale where the gods Odin, Loki and Hoenir kill the dwarf Ótr as he is transformed into an otter, and then seize all the treasure from the dwarf Andvari, down to his last possession, a ring. Andvari then cast a curse, saying that anyone who possesses the ring and its gold will die. Sigurd seized the treasure and the ring after slaying the dragon Fafnir and met with a dreadful end. Thereafter, many people and a number of families suffered a similar fate.téléchargeabl
