International audienceThis article considers the conditions surrounding the popularization of knowledge at a time when (new) information and communication technologies allow for immediate access to a quasi-infinite amount of data and knowledge, without the use of the usual intermediaries (mediators, presenters, teachers . . .). The article addresses characteristics of the problematic mediation process that the popularization of science represents and the changes that this field has experienced in recent decades.
