Contextual Learning Analytics Apps to Create Awareness in Blended Inquiry Learning

International audienceBlended inquiry learning relying on online labsto enhance classroom activities is considered as a promisingapproach to increase the skills and the interest of students inscience, technology, engineering, and mathematics. In such aframework where students combine face-to-face interaction withpeers or teachers and online interaction with remote or virtuallabs, adequate guidance should be provided. Such a task isfacilitated if teachers are made aware of the progresses andthe difficulties of their students. Learning analytics based onthe analysis of the student online interaction traces and theirvisualization is an adequate mean. A set of contextual learninganalytics apps which provide the teacher with learning-specificinformation is introduced in this paper. A requirement analysisgathered at a summer school with 32 teachers, the design andimplementation of three contextual learning analytics apps, themain outcomes from a case study, as well as an outlook on futureresearch avenues are detailed
