International audienceVanuatu archipelago, in Melanesia, is noteworthy for its linguistic and cultural diversity. From 2005 to 2008, a linguist, an anthropologist and an ethnomusicologist investigated on musical practices about which very little was known in the North of country. This project allowed us to create a rich corpus of digital audio, photo and video data documenting dances, music, and sung poems from this area. This corpus deposited in institutional archives in Vanuatu and France, it generated a publication of a documentary film (The Poet’s Salary, 2009), an audio CD (Music of Vanuatu : celebrations and mysteries, 2013) and a digital booklet at free access.
