International audienceSupposing that the legitimacy and solidity of every socio-political system partly depends on its ability to control the territory of its sovereignty, the present article explores some of the modalities of this territorial construction process in the kingdom of Savoy, while keeping in mind the intermediary authorities, as well as the peoples themselves. The composite nature of the states of Savoy - a fact highlighted by some recent studies - their Alpine configuration and situation of their borders, both multiply the directions of possible territorial expansion, but also highlight their vulnerability.
