Titanic Belfast vs mémoires d’un naufrage : le patrimoine (post)industriel de la ville ne sombrera pas !

International audienceThe museum compound of the Titanic Belfast was inaugurated on March 31, 2012, in the immediate surroundings of the Harland & Wolff shipyards where the largest transatlantic cruise-liner of that time was built between 1909 and 1911. As a matter of fact, the museum compound is itself enshrined in a large urban project, the Titanic Quarter, jointly funded by the Northern Ireland Council on Tourism, the City council of Belfast, the Belfast Port Authority and the Titanic Quarter Ltd. This paper focuses on the urban renewal processes induced by such developments, either at the level of the town or at the more reduced level of the museum compound.Inauguré, le 31 mars 2012, à proximité des chantiers navals Harland & Wolff où le plus grand paquebot de croisière transatlantique de l’époque fut construit entre 1909 et 1911, le complexe muséal Titanic Belfast s’inscrit en réalité dans un projet urbain beaucoup plus vaste, le Titanic Quarter, financé en partenariat par le Conseil Touristique de l’Irlande du Nord, le Conseil municipal de Belfast, les Commissaires du Port de Belfast et Titanic Quarter Ltd.
