International audienceIn two previous articles, we proposed a three-part categorization of children’s games as encountered in the cure. Based as it is on the games’ unconscious mechanisms rather than on their manifest structures, this classification proposes a distinction between the “trompe-l’oeil” game, whose logic is related to negation (Verneinung); the “decoy” game, whose logic is related to disavowal (Verleugnung); and the “suppléance” game, whose logic is related to foreclusion (Verwerfung). Here we study the third type of game through examples found in the works of Klein and Winnicott.
