Oppenheimer Family of Marsberg Collection 1823-1945

This collection contains personal and vital records relating to birth and marriages, as well as several official documents relating to the family's mortgages and assets in Marsberg during the 19th century. One document records the transferring of guardianship of the children and the family's assets to Julie Oppenheimer, née Wertheim, after her husband Salomon's death. Other materials include records of military service and correspondence regarding the family lineage, both from 'Gesamtarchiv der deutschen Juden' and Nazi-era government offices.Salomon Oppenheimer and some of his descendants operated distilleries, S. Oppenheimer Getreidebrennereien, in Düsseldorf and Marsberg, North-Rhine Westphalia, during the 19th and 20th centuries.
