In meeting this broad mandate, DNR is responsible for protection, management and frequently the preservation of natural resources. In addition, the Department also has responsibility for management of resources to assure that the needs of a growing population are met through environmental protection, adequate water supplies, hunting, fishing, parks and related outdoor recreational opportunities.
