NiTi alloys are widely used notably as a biomaterial (stents for heart artery). Recent studies have shown that the conventional understanding of nominal stress-strain curve during super elastic tensile test was, assuming homogeneity, not sufficient to model the behaviour of such a material. In fact NiTi SMAs exhibit localized phases transformations and are influenced by many factors. This work is dedicated to the study of these phase transformations and especially when they are localized.
