To predict the consequences of environmental change on biodiversity, it is necessary to have some knowledge about the response of species to changes in their environment. Mountain ecosystems are particularly affected by environmental changes. In particular, in the French Alps, meadows are important plant communities in terms of their heritage and biodiversity in animal and plant species they contain. To estimate the ability of species to adapt / adjust to new environmental conditions, different experiments have been implemented to estimate the role of genetic variability and phenotypic plasticity in the variation of functional traits.
