International audienceThis paper presents new results of on-wall and excavated pigments from two major rock art sites innorthern Australia: the ‘Genyornis’ site, and Nawarla Gabarnmang. The former site has been argued in the archaeologicalliterature to feature a painting of Genyornis newtoni, thought to have become extinct across Australia40-45,000 years ago.
