Hanna Schiller was born in 1921 in Berlin, the daughter of the physician Edwin Schiller and his wife Rosa, née Oleynick. In November 1935 the family emigrated to Palestine, settling in Tel Aviv. In June 1936 the family decided to leave Palestine, and after a short stay in Switzerland they immigrated to the United States, arriving in New York on Sep. 17, 1936.Diary of Hanna Schiller (later Hannah Schiller Wartenberg) with entries from Nov. 20, 1935 to Dec. 20, 1936.
