Background: The Family Medicine Residency Program at the Aga Khan University, Karachi incorporated a didactic and clinical course on elderly care in 2009. To enhance experiential learning; a pilot home visit program was added for the final year residents. This is the first time that home visits have been incorporated as part of post-graduate training in Pakistan. Home visits are unique as they allow physicians to assess and experience the health problems of the aged in their own environment.
