Some twelve years ago when, I first started to take an interest in the history of science, I found that my geographical situation in the Northern Territory of Australia, limited my access to resources enabling me to research in this area because my study required materials that were only available in the great libraries of the world. Each year I would return to Britain and spend a week or so in the British Library, London or the Bodleian, Oxford and visit bookshops, particularly in Hay-on-Wye to obtain enough materials for the following year.
