International audienceThe topic of creation in 18th century is particularly suitable to illustrate the evolution of the relation between science, philosophy and metaphysics. We consider the elimination of final causes by the mathematization of physics, the Kant-Laplace hypothesis of the formation of the solar system, and the development of life sciences which determine a new field of rationality.
