This paper examines the properties of nouns that are morphologically related to activity verbs (N-Vact). Our aim is to determine whether the aspectual properties of these nouns are akin to those of the corresponding verbs. After having dismissed deverbal nouns whose denotation is concrete, we show that two classes of abstract N-Vact can be differentiated: mass nouns (which describe genuine activity situation types, e.g. jardinage) and count nouns (which can denote events, e.g. manifestation).
