From the Residency Program Director

The goal of a Residency Program in Internal Medicine isto strive to train the next generation of practitioners andacademicians in Medicine who will become physiciansscholars,scientists, teachers, and humanists. We are excited that many of our residents are pursuingresearch opportunities in the laboratory or clinic. Suchparticipation is a requirement for training at Jefferson. Inaddition, this journal serves as an outlet for scholarlywork of a variety of types. We are pleased to supportanother issue of the Jefferson Forum to continue tohighlight this work. This represents the sixth installmentof the Jefferson Forum, which debuted in 1999. Thejournal is supported entirely through privatecontributions and unrestricted educational grants
