Preventing patient falls is a Joint Commission Safety goal. At Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, the inpatient pediatric unit instituted using the Humpty Dumpty Scale to assess pediatric inpatient\u27s for the likeliness of having a fall. The Humpty Dumpty Scale uses the following parameters to assess a patient\u27s incidence to fall: age, gender, diagnosis, cognitive impairments, environmental factors, response to surgery, sedation, anesthesia, and medication usage
