poster abstractTumor protein p53 is the most commonly mutated tumor suppressor in human cancers. The p53 family consists of three proteins p53, p63, and p73, which are all transcription factors. Mutant p53 functions as a dominant negative through the interaction with either p63 or p73, while wild-type p53 has yet to be shown heterodimerize with these family members. In order to therapeutically target many human cancers, it is critical to understand how p53 functions in cells to bring about apoptosis.
