While most of the responseswetre consistent with the previous surveys, the most recent poll uncovered interesting shifts in somesigniicant attitudes toward foreign policy options as well as highlighted some important opinionsIregarding the helms-Burton Act and of the importance of foreign policy for domestic decision makinggeneral terms, the findingsIncan be summarized as followsT here appears to be an mncreasmng frustration about the lack of political change occurring on the islandand the growing realization that desired changes are not likely to occur anytime soon. Only 1 1% ofrespondent feel that chanizes will occur within one yearAt the same time, over fifixy one percent (5 6%) of respondents signal that they would supprdialogue with the Cuban government, In the context of the other responses, this desire can be interpretedas signifyin g that among some within the Cuban-American community in Dade County, a dialogue is seenas an agzent of positive change as well as a way to bring about the end of the Castro era in CubaCuban Americans feelsupport its major initithat they are weitives Onlythink that it is a good way to bring15%I informed about the Helms-Burton Act and overwhelminglyrespond that they have not heard much about the law.
