Component orientation promotes the construction of applications from the assembly of reusable building blocks called components. This approach, however, does not assume that functionalities provided by components may be dynamically available. Dynamic availability represents the situation where functionalities provided by the components that constitute an application continually become unavailable or available for different reasons, such as component deployment activities that take place during execution. Changes in the functionalities occur during application execution and potentially outside of its control.
