Electromagnetic flow control (CEM) in seawater allows to apply local body forces directly to a flow in chosen regions. Actuators, made of wall-flush electrodes and permanent magnets, are an original mean of applying a force over the boundary layer. These electromagnetic body forces are local and their curl is a source of vorticity. They can be used in a network along the wall and activated periodically in time and space.
