Isotopic effects in the multifragmentation of spectator decays were studied in experiments with beams from SIS at GSI with the ALADiN spectrometer. Reactions at relativistic energies were employed, primary stable beams of 197Au and 124Sn and secondary radioactive beams 124La and 107Sn were used to cover a wide range of mass and isotopic composition. The measurement of the momentum vector and of the charge of all projectile fragments with Z>1 entering the acceptance of the ALADiN magnet has been performed with high efficiency and resolution using the upgraded ALADiN spectrometer, operated in conjunction with LAND for simultaneous neutron detection.
