In order to explain the current degradation of the delta-coasts, we undertook a study on the modalities of the distribution of the river solid discharge on the littoral. Two approaches have been coupled: (1) the study of the secular evolution of the coastline and climatic and human impacts, based on the study of historical documents, and (2) the detailed study of the sedimentary mechanisms during floods, in the key zone of the river mouth. The main results show that the delta-coast is currently disconnected from the river, because the river inputs remain stored near the mouth.
