This work deals with the improvement of both insight and modelling of the indentation behavior of thin-film coated glass substrates.We first study the elastic contact to a coated substrate. We present a semi-analytical algorithm allowing efficient calculation of such a contact. The effect of modulus and Poisson ratio mismatch is studied. The Oliver and Pharr method is shown to cause a misevaluation of the contact radius when dealing with coated substrates. We present leads to tackle this problem.We then study the elastoplastic behavior of silica glass.
