This study comes within the development of physically based models of water erosion at the field scale. The objective is to build a numerical model (PSEM_2D, Plot Soil Erosion Model) coupling the mechanisms of infiltration, overland flow and erosion. The selected parameterizations are first implemented in the model. A preliminary evaluation using data of the literature gives acceptable results and highlights the usefulness of such a tool for studying the transfer of water and sediment. The study then focuses on the processes of rill erosion. Data from an American database on particle-size distribution of exported sediment, hydraulics and erosion regimes in rills are analysed.
