Leptin is an adipose hormone implicated in the control of energetic balance and growth hormone (GH) secretion. Its receptors ObRa and ObRb are expressed in the rat somatotroph cells and leptin regulates ghrelin receptor expression in the pituitary. In our obese DIO rats model, the alteration of plasma GH levels, identified in this pathology, is not related to pituitary resistance to leptin. In the Lou/C rats, GH is involved in the resistance to obesity, with leptin and ghrelin hormones playing a major role in the pituitary control of its secretion. In vitro, ObRb internalisation is constitutive but leptin inhibits the traffic of this receptor from the Golgi apparatus to the plasma membrane. This internalisation is required for STAT3 activat...
