Following European directives inciting electrical motors manufacturers to replace engines withpoor efficiency in the near future, a high efficiency motor design policy was committed. However,the preliminary evaluation, in Finite Element Method (FEM) simulation, of the efficiency, and inparticular the iron losses in the machine remains a difficult problem nowadays. An iron losses aposteriori calculation module, named « Loss Surface », for the finite element software Flux2D™has been developed since several years.
