This work is devoted to the study of optical parametric oscillation and quantum correlations in planar semiconductor microcavities.In these systems, a strong light-matter coupling results in new eigenstates, which are mixed exciton-photon states, the microcavity polaritons. Nonlinear effects such as optical parametric oscillation become possible.
